Fire Safety: Prevention Before Combustion - CNSK & Shanghai Jiao Tong University Science Park Hold Fire Drills
May 12th this year marked the 12th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in China. To create a safe and harmonious working atmosphere and enhance the emergency response and self - rescue capabilities of enterprise employees in the face of unexpected events, on the afternoon of May 15th, CNSK & Shanghai Jiao Tong University Science Park organized more than 40 enterprise employees to hold a publicity and education event on disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as fire drills, with the theme of "Enhancing Grassroots Emergency Response Capabilities and Building a People's Defense Line for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Relief".
The fire drill was divided into three parts. The first part involved creating a publicity atmosphere by distributing "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" promotional materials. The second part was a corridor evacuation drill in a multi - story building. The third part was a practical fire - fighting drill.
The entire process was closely linked and carried out in an orderly manner. Before the drill began, cadres from the district fire brigade were invited to the scene. They explained in detail the prevention of fires, self - rescue skills for evacuation, and the usage methods and precautions of fire - fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers.
During the corridor evacuation segment, within a short time, all evacuees, following the emergency instructions, orderly withdrew from the building through the safety passage to the designated assembly point. In the dry powder fire extinguisher drill, participants, under the guidance of professional firefighters, used fire extinguishers to conduct drills on putting out open flames. For the fire hose water - spraying drill, the company's security captain and team members carried out the simulation. This is mainly used for extinguishing sudden and fierce fires over long distances. Comprising actions such as hose deployment and water gun connection, it aims to quell the raging flames.
Zhang Aidi, the vice president and the general commander of the fire drill, delivered a mobilization speech before the drill and a summary speech after it. The leaders of the district fire brigade commented on the drill process, fully affirming it. Meanwhile, they put forward specific requirements for fire safety.
The safety supervision leaders of Nanqiao Town, the police officers in charge of the section from Nanqiao Police Station, and the safety responsible personnel of Jianghai Park came to the scene to observe.
Through this fire drill, the enterprise employees have effectively grasped some emergency avoidance methods, become familiar with the procedural requirements and routes of emergency evacuation, and improved their abilities of emergency avoidance, self-rescue, self-protection, and emergency response. This ensures that in case of a sudden fire, the emergency work can be carried out quickly, efficiently, and orderly, maximizing the protection of the lives and property of enterprise employees and reducing unnecessary losses and injuries caused by the danger. At the same same time, through the drill activities, the education of fire prevention knowledge has been strengthened, the fire prevention awareness of enterprise employees has been comprehensively improved, as well as their emergency response, self-rescue, and mutual rescue skills when disasters occur. Employees have also mastered relevant common sense of emergency disaster avoidance and cultivated a spirit of cooperation among each other.
